A number of quilting projects were undertaken between the years 1998 and 2008. Many of the projects involved a large amount of hand and machine sewing and dyeing of material. A number of communities participated in these community art projects. The designs often employed the use of symbols and icons that were particular to the participating ethnic group. The artist believes by this means individuals can keep a memory of their previous backgrounds and also pass the cultural knowledge onto their children.
